In reference to NewtGingrinch’s cemmont, declaring that the purpose ofthe debate was so that theRepublicans could display aunited front in attackingObama was nonsense.O.K., weare already aware all theparticipants are runningagainst Obama as Presidentbecause they do not agree withhis administration’spolicies. They are expectedto discuss their concernsabout President Obama’spolicies. Each of them hasdiscussed how they don’tagree with his policies onraising taxes on corporationsand millionaires. They haveall expressed their negativeopinion about his handling, or lack of handling, of the debtcrisis. Most of all, each ofthem has expressed his or herdisagreement regarding hishealthcare and other socialpolicies, and his handling ofthe economy. The problem is,the purpose of the debate wasto distinguish who will be thebest single RepublicanPresidential nominee among theRepublican candidates. Howcan they do that displaying aunited front? Only one ofthem can be chosen at theRepublican convention. Onlyone of them can face PresidentObama in November, 2012. Howcan the public make thatdistinction when they are onlydiscussing their similaritiesabout why President Obamashould not be re-elected. Regardless of the amount ofcriticism he receives fromthem, he is already theDemocratic Presidentialnominee, so he is already inthe Presidential Race.I wantto know from each of the eightRepublican Presidentialcandidates , why should one ofthem be chosen from among theothers? What makes onecandidate’s economicpolicies more effective thanRick Perry’s MittRomney’s, or MichelleBachman’s? Maybe asconservatives they do agree ona lot of the same conservativefundementals such as cuttingmedicare and medicaid spendingor reducing taxes and thegovernment debt. However, thepublic can only choose one ofthem. In order for the publicto make an informed decision,Republican candidates mustdistinguish themselves fromeach other.Former SpeakerGingrinch seems to be decidingwhat questions the media canand can not ask. He hasdecided topics such asincreasing taxes and mandatedhealthcare are off limits. However, most Republicancandidates have signed pledgesnot to raise taxes and madestatements that ifelected, they will attempt torepeal President Obama’shealthcare mandate. To tellthe media that the candidatesshould not have to account forthese statements which reflecttheir fundamental politicalbeliefs, sounds totallyillogical to me.In order forthe public to make an informeddecision regarding whichcandidate to choose, thepublic must hold candidatesaccountable to explain theirpublic cemmonts regardingtheir fundamental politicalbeliefs.
